Starting off as quiet fishing village during the 1960s, Hikkaduwa has gone through a major transformation to be one of the most popular international beach holiday destinations of Sri Lanka. Due to ease of access from the airport, many travelers come to Hikkaduwa directly to start their classic Asian beach holiday. There’s a variety of beaches, sea-coral for snorkelers, and good waves for board- and body-surfers
Party on the sands with the waves crashing around you in one of the many bars that line the Hikka beach. The rhythms and grooves go until sunrise or further with eclectic people dancing the night away.
The coral sanctuary found on the coast of Hikkaduwa is a large shallow body of water protected by a reef, decorated with layers of multi colored corals, which is home to a myriad of colorful fish.
Head over to the Turtle Farm to see how turtles are nurtured and their eggs are collected and buried in the sand to protect them from predators.
Hikkaduwa provides various water sports activities for the visitors such as snorkelling, surfing, scuba diving, jet skiing and more.
